manufacturersDefinition from Wiktionary, the free dictionary Jump to: navigation, searchFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Manufacturing is the use of machines, tools and labor to make things for use or sale. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other, more complex products, such as household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users - the "consumers". Manufacturing takes turns under all types of economic systems. In a free market economy, manufacturing is usually directed toward the mass production of products for sale to consumers at a profit. In a collectivist economy, manufacturing is more frequently directed by the state to supply a centrally planned economy. In free market economies, manufacturing occurs under some degree of government regulation. Modern manufacturing includes all intermediate processes required for the production and integration of a product's components. Some industries, such as semiconductor and steel manufacturers use the term fabrication instead. The manufacturing sector is closely connected with engineering and industrial design. Examples of major manufacturers in the North America include General Motors Corporation, General Electric, and Pfizer. Examples in Europe include Volkswagen Group, Siemens, and Michelin. Examples in Asia include Toyota, Samsung, and Bridgestone. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License I am looking for a way to find manufacturers for supplies for my small business? Q. I run a small business from my home selling soy candles. My current supplier has good prices but as the business is growing I would like to cut costs and buy directly from the manufacturers. My current supplier is not willing to part with this information as they want to keep my business for themselves. I am mostly looking for glass jars and tins for the candles we make. I already have contracts with the manufactures of our wax and colors. I would also like any information on manufacturers of candle scents. I have been to a few trade shows but it's still mostly middlemen suppliers and not the manufacturers. Asked by Beth - Thu Aug 9 19:51:35 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Okay, here's a couple possibilities to start with. I would suggest contacting both of these companies, first to inquire if they can supply direct to you the type of tins you require. In the event one or either cannot, you should then inquire from each of them any possible references they might be able to make to other manufacturers of tin products that would be able to supply you. If you need more assistance in research please let me know. Answered by NuckinFutz - Thu Aug 9 20:19:53 2007 How is it that asian car manufacturers build more reliable cars? Q. According to a few sites I have come across I have seen figures that say Japanese and even Korean car manufacturers build more reliable cars than European manufacturers. How is this possible? I would have thought European cars would be more reliable since you are usually paying a higher price. Asked by eliminist - Wed Aug 26 04:07:01 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. It depends on which make and model of car we are talking about. And when you consider that, then that is NOT always the case.
