A harbor or harbour (see spelling differences), or haven, is a place where ships may shelter from the weather or are stored. Harbors can be man-made or natural. A man-made harbor will have sea walls or breakwaters and may require dredging. A natural harbor is surrounded on most sides by land. Harbors and ports are often confused. A port is a man-made coastal or riverine facility where boats and ships can load and unload. It may consist of quays, wharfs, jetties, piers and slipways with cranes or ramps. A port may have magazine buildings or warehouses for storage of goods and a transport system, such as railway, road transport or pipeline transport facilities for relaying goods inland. Artificial harborsArtificial harbors are frequently built for use as ports. The largest artificially created harbor is in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What happened to the actual crates of tea that were dumped into Boston Harbor during the Tea Party of 1773? Q. I always wonder about these obscure details. Did the tea that was dumped into the harbor just end up sitting there for the past 236 years? Would it be possible for a diver to find it today? Were the crates ever recovered? Does anyone know? Asked by shempmania81 - Wed May 20 09:46:52 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. the point of the protest was to make the tea unusable; so the Sons of Liberty actually broke open the crates and dumped the tea...otherwise the crates, which were relatively waterproof to keep the tea from spoiling during shipping would have floated away and could have been recovered later. So the tea mixed with Boston Harbor, giving the fish a caffeine buzz, and the wood went out with the tide.. Answered by yankee_sailor - Wed May 20 10:23:29 2009 Why is the Harbor of Rio de Janeiro considered one of the natural wonders of the world? Q. Because I am doing my english oral presentation of the subject of The Seven Natural Wonders of the World. And on every list there is on the natural wonders, the Harbor of Rio de Janeiro is on there. I have researched it slightly and I do not see why it is so facinating. I even looked at it from google earth. It doesn't look that spectacular. Am I missing something? Is it really that great and I just don't see why? Because all of the others on the list truley are amazing and I'm not sure how this compares. Q. I own a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan, and it is controlled mainly by remote control. In order to turn the light or fan on, I need to use the remote; the wall switch only controls if there is power going to it or not. Recently, I noticed the battery on my remote was dying (it has a little blinking indicator for low battery life). So, absent-mindendly of the consequences, I changed the battery. Now the remote won't work at all. Even though the numbers and such show up the same as usual, the fan unit doesn't respond. Do I need to reprogram the remote after switching the battery? And how would I go about doing that? The Control is a Harbor Breeze LCD Remote Control, if that helps. Asked by nardis14 - Sun Jun 10 02:49:58 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. This is a Lowes brand, and I tried searching, but their site is down now for maintenance. I would suggest starting with a trip to Lowes if you can't find the directions, or they don't help you, and you can't find any reset switches (there should be one on the fan, the remote, or both). Here is the link to the google search anyways...it isn't really helpful right now...but your answer may reside there if it becomes available any time soon.
