International business is a term used to collectively describe all commercial transactions (private and governmental, sales, investments, logistics, and transportation) that take place between two or more nations. Usually, private companies undertake such transactions for profit; governments undertake them for profit and for political reasons. A multinational enterprise (MNE) is a company that has a worldwide approach to markets and production or one with operations in more than a country. An MNE is often called multinational corporation (MNC) or transnational company (TCN). Well known MNCs include fast food companies such as McDonald's and Yum Brands, vehicle manufacturers such as General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Toyota, consumer electronics companies like Samsung, LG and Sony, and energy companies such as ExxonMobil, Shell and BP. Most of the largest corporations operate in multiple national markets. Areas of study within this topic include differences in legal systems, political systems, economic policy, language, accounting standards, labor standards, living standards, environmental standards, local culture, corporate culture, foreign exchange, tariffs, import and export regulations, trade agreements, climate, education and many more topics. Each of these factors requires significant changes in how individual business units operate from one country to the next. The conduct of international operations depends on companies' objectives and the means with which they carry them out. The operations affect and are affected by the physical and societal factors and the competitive environment. Operations

GNU Free Documentation License Are there international business opportunities in Brazil for a recent college grad? Q. There has been a lot of talk of BRIC, and the rising economic importance of Brazil. I am about to graduate college with a degree in International Business and I am considering moving to Brazil for a year to learn Portuguese so that I can do international business between the United States and Brazil. Do these international business opportunities exist and what are they? And is worth the investment to learn Portuguese? Asked by laboca10 - Wed Dec 3 11:23:56 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Brazil is way ahead of us in energy, especially biofuels. That field will be gaining importance in the next few years in the U.S. and there will probably be consulting jobs available between the U.S. energy industry and Brazil's. Is there any Book which falls in general category, but is written about International Business, so that I can grasp easily and have the picture of IB in my mind. IB encompasses such a breath of material that until you start it will be difficult to gauge what slant your lecturer will take on the topic. As it is such a broad subject it could be pretty difficult to get a book specifically written on it as a topic.
